About Me
I’m Robert Scales, owner and operator behind Refined Cabinet Painting. With over six years of hands-on prep and refinishing craftsmanship, I personally complete every cabinet painting project from start to finish. I work on one project at a time, and every cabinet door passes through my hands—because true quality control isn’t delegated.
I use a proven 5-day in-home spray system that allows me to carefully control the environment while treating your home with respect and integrity. Cabinet doors and cabinet structures are sprayed on-site to the highest standard, eliminating the added cost and compromise of off-site spray booths. The process is clean, contained, and deliberate—leaving your home spotless and your cabinets finished to a factory-level result.
Proudly serving Hamilton, Burlington, and surrounding areas.

-
A professionally sprayed cabinet finish is extremely durable when the correct preparation and coatings are used. The result is a hard, smooth surface designed to withstand daily use, routine cleaning, and normal wear while maintaining its appearance for years.
-
I exclusively use Renner industrial coatings to achieve a true factory-quality finish. These professional-grade coatings are engineered specifically for cabinetry and millwork, not standard household paints.
I incorporate a 2K additive to enhance durability, providing excellent mar resistance and protection against harsher household chemicals, including products such as nail polish remover. The result is a long-lasting, high-performance finish suitable for everyday use.
-
Spraying cabinets on-site allows for greater control over fit, finish, and consistency while avoiding the added cost and risk associated with transporting cabinetry. By eliminating the overhead of an off-site spray facility, I’m able to pass those savings directly on to the client—without compromising quality. Cabinet doors and boxes receive the same level of finish on-site, resulting in a more seamless and refined final product.
-
Overspray protection is a top priority. I build a temporary spray booth inside your home with proper ventilation and use multiple air scrubbers to continuously clean the air while I work. All surrounding surfaces are carefully masked and protected, ensuring that paint is contained to the cabinets only. This controlled process allows me to deliver a factory-quality finish without compromising your home’s cleanliness or safety, leaving the space spotless once the project is complete.

Yes. Oak cabinets can be refinished successfully using the correct preparation methods. I offer a grain-filling service for oak and other open-grain materials for clients seeking a smoother, more contemporary finish. The level of grain visibility can be adjusted based on the desired look.
-
Yes. I refinish MDF cabinetry as well as thermofoil doors, provided they are in suitable condition. Each project is carefully assessed to ensure the refinishing process will deliver a durable, long-lasting result.
-
Yes, provided building rules and ventilation requirements allow for the process. I regularly work in occupied homes and controlled environments and am happy to review condo guidelines in advance to ensure a smooth and compliant project.
